Is’haq Modibbo Kawu who joined the rest of the staff for the event.

In his address, Mall. Kawu welcomed Rev. Dr. Israel Akanji, members of his delegation and members of NBC family. He stated that he came from a very religious background and grew up where religion and spirituality were taken very seriously. He said the spirituality of people and social network of people coming from different backgrounds, diversity in cultures, diversity in spirituality, diversity in ethnicity and all, have been part of his social sensibility growing up in Nigeria where those social curbings were very important in making us the individuals that we became. In continuation, he explained “things are a bit different in our country today where identity has taken a more negative connotation but in truth we cannot build our country or social communities if we do not come together as a people, finding the respect that comes from doctrines of different religions to be able to relate with each other”

Mall. Kawu emphasized that one thing we all have together is our humanity which unites all of us together and in the NBC, he always hopes that we will build this institution finding respect for ourselves, respect for our identities, our spiritualities because all these come together to make a deep sea of humanity that can help build an institution and by extension our country. The DG implored all NBC staff to learn from the uniqueness of Jesus Christ to be good to one another and to build a community of feelings among ourselves in “collectively building this institution and by extension our country” He said he was happy the Commission was dedicating the chapel and he is proud this took place during his time as DG of NBC.

The DG ended his speech with a quotation from the Holy bible “Glory to God in the highest and earth peace of goodwill to men.” Mr. Charles Egu, president of the NBC Christian fellowship in his address said that it was a privilege to welcome everyone to the twin historic event and that today the dedication of the chapel commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ .He added that Christmas reminds us of a time of intervention, an intervention of heaven in human affairs. Mr. Egu noted that we should bear in mind that it can only be Christmas if we reach out to the broken hearted, the needy, the hurting and the oppressed in our society. He wished everyone a merry Christmas in advance.

Rev. Dr. Israel Akanji from first Baptist Church area 11, Garki who is the CAN chairman for north central led the delegation to the Commission to formally dedicate the Christian fellowship chapel to God.
