One of the greatest architects of the modern era, the Brazilian, Oscar Niemeyer celebrated his 102nd birthday this week. He designed the Brazilian capital, Brasilia. But more importantly, he reminded on his birthday that he remains a communist, still dedicated to the building of a world that eliminates poverty, exploitation and injustice around the world. He has been my favourite architect for a very long time because he combines his intellectual genius with a passion for social justice. Happy Birthday, Oscar!
