Ina lilahi wa ina ilaihi raji’un.
I’ve just heard of the passing of the Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba Abdulganiyu Ajibola Olusokun II. I will like to commiserate with the dear people of Erin-Ile, and the government and people of Kwara State, on the passing of the Elerin. The late monarch was a man of deep wisdom, with whom I enjoyed a very close personal relationship over the decades.
He was a very close friend of our family, and used to be a regular visitor to our family compound in Ilorin. He worked with dedication to ensure the steady progress of his community, and he was a genuine believer in the peace and development of Kwara State and our dear country, Nigeria.
The late Elerin of Erin-Ile was a monarch of the old school, who was a repository of community values, that is becoming increasingly rare today. He will be sorely missed. May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljanna Fir’daus. Amin.
