Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), the umbrella sociocultural organisation of the good people of Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State, has applauded the dismissal of a case instituted by the Independent Corrupt Practises and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) at the Abuja Division of the
Federal High Court against a former Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Dr. Is’haq Modibbo Kawu and Mr Dipo Onifade of Pinnacle Communications over an alleged abuse of office and money laundering.
The Union said that it received the news with joy and satisfaction as it has always believed in the innocence and integrity of Dr Kawu.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Nurudeen Ibrahim, the National President of the Union, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, congratulated Dr Kawu on his hard-earned victory.
While noting that the suit had no substance, the Union believed that the matter must have been deliberately orchestrated and instituted to tarnish the good image of Dr Kawu. The statement, however, appealed to the former Director-General to consider his experience on the matter as part
of his contributions to nation-building as it urged him to look towards a brighter future now that his innocence had been proven and vindicated.
